Can I configure more than one device per device screen?
Return to top of page

UCommand-616:
UCommand-515:

UCommand-525:

  • Yes, you can map multiple devices to the same device layer. This can be very useful; for example, if you wish to control the TV's volume using your amplifier, without having to change between the two device screens. In this case, you learn the regular TV functions from the TV remote, but the volume functions from your amplifier remote. In some rare cases, if you assign too many different remotes to the same device layer, this might fail, although no corruption of data or other damage will occur.

How can I control X10 home automation devices with UCommand?
Return to top of page

You need an infrared ransceiver (like the X10 IR-543 or compatible models) which are available from X10 dealers.
These transceivers use non-standard IR codes and can not be learned. Therefore we implemented pre-configured codes.

UCommand-515:
UCommand-525:

  • Has a pre-configured instruction set for the X10 IR codes that can be activated on any device screen. The mapping corresponds with the settings on the original X10 universal remote control and can be deleted and recalled any time (see the user manual for deleting and resetting device functions). To activate:

How to activate the X10 instruction set on the UC-515:

  • Press the “Learn” button for 3 seconds
  • Unlock learn function by pressing the 4 displayed buttons in any order
  • Press and hold the device button you want to map the X10 commands to, for 5s.
  • Press the 4 displayed buttons in any order (if the unit exits without showing a keypad, you have an older version, which is not pre-configured for X10)
  • Enter learning set code 01 by pressing: ‘0’ – ‘1’ ·The remote beeps and exits into normal mode
  • This configuration can be deleted and recalled any time, see the user’s manual for deleting IR codes and recalling original button configuration..

UCommand-616:

  • You need a docking station and the RemoteLink software to download a model file for X10 and transfer it to the UC-616. Go here for downloading the files and further information.

How can I learn Sound Field commands for Sony receivers with the UCommand?
Return to top of page

UCommand-515:
UCommand-616:
UCommand-525:

Here a user report written by C. Brown., This works probably for all comparable Sony models:

I have the Sony STR845 Receiver with the 2 way remote and I have figured out how to program and access the sound field menu on the UCommand.
You would think that you could teach the UCommand by simply pushing the sound field button and then choosing the surround mode or sound field on the sub-menu on the Sony Remote.
I tried a gazillion times and the UCommand accepts the signal, but when you try it all you get is an error message. Probably something to do with the sub-menu in the Sony system.
I noticed that the Sony Remote has 2 macros options and this is the key to teaching the UCommand.
Here is what you do:

  1. push "set up" on the Sony remote.
  2. enter "ir set"
  3. go down to "macro1" and push enter.
  4. enter "macro1-1"
  5. under catetory, enter "receiver"
  6. enter "sony" as maker.
  7. go down to "2ch" and press enter.

Your macro 1 is now set to 2ch. You can now teach the UC515 to access the 2ch sound field directly by pushing function on the Sony remote, going down to Macro1 and pushing enter while you have the UC515 set to receive the signal.
The next step is to go thru steps 1-6 as listed above. But for step 7, you can now enter A.f.d. Then you can designate a button on the UC515 to access the A.F.D. sound field directly. Finally you can follow steps 1-6, then enter "anlg direct" ..... next enter "sf mode".
What you end up with is one button on the UC515 for 2ch mode. One button for AFD Mode. These are direct inputs. The other two buttons (anlg direct and sf mode) are not direct input buttons, but will get you to the rest of the 25 or so sound fields. From there you can use your arrow keys or +- keys, whatever you have assigned to move around with to access these other fields.
